SMILE provides home energy assistance, weatherization, food assistance ( drop off location is Wal Mart), homeless assistance, medication assistance, transportation ($7.00/round trip charge inside the parish and $9.00/round trip charge outside the parish); clients with Medicaid must go through Medical Dispatch for medical appointments and Medicaid will pay for the trip charge), job search, Medication Assistance Program Applications; outreach program; housing counseling, emergency assistance (food, shelter, utilities), information and referral, free income tax services, Toys for Tots, Coats for Kids and filling out forms and applications of all types (includes Medicaid applications). Mortgage assistance for persons foreclosure on mortgage and living out of city limits. Assistance with these services depends upon availability of funds.
