About

The purpose of the Office of Family Support is to assist individuals, children and families in meeting their basic human need for economic support and to promote self-sufficiency in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations. The major programs are: Family Independence Temporary Assistance Program (FITAP) which is a public assistance program that provides financial aid for children who do not have sufficient financial support from their parents. Family Independence Work Program (FIND WORK). The purpose of the FIND WORK program is to provide recipients of FITAP job preparation, work and supportive services to enable them to leave the program and become self-sufficient.
Diversion Assistance Program (DAP) provides cash assistance to families in crisis due to the loss of a job. Kinship Care Subsidy Program (KSCP) provides cash assistance for eligible children who reside with qualified relatives other than parents. Food Stamp Program is a Federal/State program to help low-income persons buy the food they need for good health. Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) increases the availability, affordability and quality of child care services. The program provides low-income families with the financial resources to find and afford quality child care for their children so that parents can work or attend school or training thus increasing the probability that these families will become economically self-sufficient.
