UMC is a stated owned and operated acute care hospital which offers services in: OB/GYN, surgery, orthopedics, pediatrics, ENT, Detox, 24-hour emergency room care, and outpatient clinics including Walk-in Clinic/Quick Med Clinic (includes orthopedic, eye care and cardio care with physican referral), Family Practice, KidMed, WIC, Infectious Disease and Learning Resource Center/Library. There are departments in internal medicine, psychology, in-patient psychiatric unit (Acadiana Mental Health), radiology, anesthesiology, and pathology and a medical equipment loan closet (through Social Services). Pharmaceutical assistance program for medication is available for those who qualify and receive their primary medical care through UMC. For more information contact Social Services.
